Marabahaya by Project E.A.R. at MTV Asia Awards 2008

Marabahaya
Great performance by Jamir and Lean of Slapshock

Jamir and Lean of Slapshock represented the Philippines as SEA SuperGroup Project E.A.R. They performed at the MTV Asia Awards 2008 on August 2, 2008 along with other international and regional artists.

Project E.A.R. (East Asian Revolution) is a collective of like-minded musicians from Southeast Asia who had taken the opportunity to showcase their very first collaboration on MTV. Their debut performance at the MTV Asia Awards will feature a medley of songs performed in five different languages from the region (Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, English, Tagalog and Thai), fusing various genres of music. The super group is made up of members from Ahli Fiqir (Singapore), Pop Shuvit (Malaysia), Saint Loco (Indonesia), Slapshock (Philippines), Silksounds (Thailand) and Thaitanium (Thailand)

Slapshock goes International

The Dubai Desert Rock Fest 2008 has been a big break for Slapshock's international career. Aside from having the chance to a loud performance together with other well-known international rock stars, it was in that concert that they got the attention of the International Record Label - I'm not sure though if its the name of the record label because according to Phil. Star, its CSM. But the band has signed a contract for the said label.

“The album will be our sixth,” the members say. “We’ve done five albums — or two a year — in 10 years. This time, our new album under CSM will be an all-original work which will carry a Pinoy flavor because it will have Tagalog songs. We expect to launch it in Dubai on June 12, in time for the celebration of Philippine Independence Day.”

The band has been with EMI Philippines until last year. Recollection was their last album under the said company. After which, they will soon to rock the international rock scene with their new recording company. This will be another Filipino pride which must be given credit or must be honored to just as how we, and the government as well, honor the boxing titles won by Pacquiao and other Filipino boxers.

Slapshock Loud (Dubai Desert Rock Fest '08)

Back from their successful gig at Dubai Desert Rock Fest '08 here are two videos of Slapshock's world-class performance. When I saw the video, I felt proud of them. Their performance was superb and rocking! It proves their worth of being included in the festival. Aside from Jamir, I love Lee's performance - energetic as always.

I've heard that the band is going back to DDRF in 2009. I think they must. They perform very very well.
It must really feel great to watch the Rock Festival with all those bands.

Slapshock back from Dubai Desert Rock Fest

A lot of Filipinos that has gone to international events or brought honor to the country by winning some competitions has been given much attention to. But there are also some that has not. Slapshock has just got back from Dubai Desert Rock Fest.

03.15.08...Slapshock Back from Dubai Desert Rock Fest '08

Slapshock is back from its very successful gig at Dubai Desert Rock Fest. The band played an explosive set which set the crowd bouncing and started the big moshpits all over. From the opening song Shed Your Skin to the finale of We Are One, the crowd gave out the same high energy level as the band members played their hearts out onstage. According to the band, it's one of the most memorable experience they had ever in their whole career. "It's a gig we can always look back when we're gray and old" says one of the band members. Check out the pics at the Photo Section and watchout for some videos on Youtube very soon.

It was a great honor to have a Filipino Rock band included on such prestigious rock event and to be with other international rock bands. It feels like Slapshock is one of them also. The band's participation to the event may have been mentioned to some news (I'm not sure) though. But this is something to be proud of. Slapshock's music genre or the band itself may not be mass oriented but they have a niche on the music industry. Take a look at the photos I gathered from their site:

recollection

Got a copy of Slapshock's latest album, Recollection. This is their last album under EMI Philippines, a compilation of their songs from their previous albums.

Their song Numb is here, my first fave song of the band. This was the song that caught my interest with the band. Anino and Queen Paranoia are included in this album as well.

I like the packaging of the album. With the audio and video cd, this sure is a good buy (the album was just given to me though :D).

Their song, Sigaw, also included in this album has already hit the top spot at the Philippine Charts of Channel V's AMP site. The video has also premiered at MYX, so Slap Armies out there, vote now. Here's how:
TYPE MYX(space)VOTE(space)SIGAW AND SEND TO 2366

. . .and for the latest news about the band, they're in at Dubai Desert Rock Fest V 2008 on March 7 and 8 along with great international bands like Korn, Killswitch Engage, Velvet Revolver and Machine Head. This is said to be the biggest, most prestigious annual rock event in the Middle East and Slapshock is the first Filipino band to join this event.

I have been tagged by Edward a.k.a FLY with this My Desktop Meme. I don't know how it was originally called. He was only tagged as well.

I have set this background in my Desktop just before the concert of Parokya ni Edgar and Kamikazee here in Iloilo. I was browsing through Parokya's site and found this. I wanted my desktop background to be black and something dark so I edited the photo. Here is the original one:

The Meme Rules:

My Desktop Free View Instruction:

A. Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun. You can do a screen capture by:

[2] Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and do a Paste (CTRL + V).

[3] If you wish, you can “edit” the image, before saving it.

B. Post the picture in your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop just below it if you want. You can explain why you preferred such look or why is it full of Icons, things like that.

C. Tag five of your friends and ask them to give you a Free View of their desktop as well.

EMI talents Bamboo and Slapshock

Bamboo has just renewed their contract with their recording company, EMI Philippines. They have released their album, We Stand Alone Together, last February 2007 which were cover songs from various artists. Their next album, which will be fully original is expected on December 2007 or January 2008.

Before they set foot on the studio for their next album, Bamboo (the band) is busy with their domestic and international tours. . .and tomorrow, September 01, 2007, they will be here in Iloilo. It was exactly a year ago since they had their concert here at Pier 16 (August 31, 2006). So I'll just keep my fingers crossed for tomorrow's concert to be another heaven of an experience. weheheh

While Bamboo renewed their contract with EMI, Slapshock has ended their ties with the company, mutually they say. It was officially announced in their website last July 10, 2007. As they leave the company, they will release their greatest hits this September. This will be their last album under EMI Philippines.
